ABC is such an unconventional supplement that at first people are slightly surprised and afterwards usually very positive. Few skeptics do not understand why you would need it since you can swallow pills or white powder that does not spoil. Admirers, on the other hand, proclaim that it saved their lives, stomach, mental health and thanks to it they stopped getting sick and started liking supplementation.
We set its price at the lowest possible level because we did not want its purchase to be a sacrifice for families like ours. However, there are opinions that our syrup is expensive. Seemingly, a few dozen zlotys for a glass of the product is not a small amount, but is it really expensive compared to other similar products?
I decided to do the math.
I created ABC because it was impossible to buy a megadose of vitamin C in a natural and tasty syrup, which I would feel comfortable giving to my sickly children, so there is really no product on the market to which it could be honestly compared. At most, I can calculate the cost of L-ascorbic acid in vitamin C products with bioflavonoids and thus somewhat compare it with other high-end supplements. After all, in fighting diseases it’s all about ascorbic acid.
ABC contains 1000 mg of vitamin C per teaspoon (5 ml), so 1 gram of vitamin C costs PLN 1.43 (the total cost of curing a cold – on average 40,000 mg of vitamin C – is PLN 57.20)
At the time when I was looking for a good vitamin for my children, Visanto was not available yet, and only Calivita Liquid C was available in liquid form. It was tasty but I only bought it once because I was not convinced by the preservatives they used. 1 gram of vitamin C costs PLN 5.48 in this case (the total cost of curing a cold – on average 40,000 mg of vitamin C – is PLN 227.20)
Then for some time I bought vitamin C from Finclub – nice, in in the form of lozenges, the fillers were tolerable. 1 gram of vitamin C costs PLN 9.04 in this case (the total cost of curing a cold – on average 40,000 mg of vitamin C – is PLN 361,60)
A few years ago, DuoLife appeared on the market. I have never had the opportunity to try their product and despite the nice list of ingredients, I am not convinced that much of the vitamin remains in it after pasteurization. No matter how you look at it, 1 gram of vitamin C costs PLN 9.70 in this case (the total cost of curing a cold – on average 40,000 mg of vitamin C – is PLN 388). In addition, it is a product sold within the MLM model, which I personally do not like. Besides, Finclub and Calivita are also financial pyramids .
Among reasonable powdered supplements there is the Visanto vitamin C with powdered rosehip – the package has 210 grams of ascorbic acid for PLN 161 (plus probably 30% powdered rose), which gives us a price of PLN 0.76 for 1 gram of vitamin C (the total cost of curing a cold – on average 40,000 mg of vitamin C – is PLN 30,40).
There is no point in comparing ABC to powdered products, and certainly not to tablets, because even those with bioflavonoids or the addition of powdered fruit are much less bioavailable than liquid ones.
However, for fun, let’s calculate the real cost of Poles’ favorite – Rutinoscorbin.
10 tablets of Rutinoscorbin is 1 teaspoon of ABC, and it amounts to 93 cents for 1 gram of vitamin C (the total cost of curing a cold – on average 40,000 mg of vitamin C – is PLN 37,20).
Apart from the addition of rutin, we also have an impressive list of fillers: lactose monohydrate, potato starch, sucrose, magnesium stearate, talc, polyvinyl alcohol, opadry II 85F32876 Yellow (polyvinyl alcohol, macrogol 4000, titanium dioxide (E171), talc, choline yellow (E104). The bioavailability of vitamin powder is much lower than that of a liquid supplement, but what is the bioavailability of a tablet in such a shell? I wonder if anyone knows.
As I said before – comparing pills to our syrup is simply not fair, so I will stop at this point.
But we can have fun counting the cost of the tablets favored by pediatricians.
In a package of Cebion we have 3 grams of ascorbic acid for 15.99 zlotys, which is 5.33 zlotys for 1 gram of vitamin C (the total cost of curing a cold – an average of 40,000 mg of vit C – is 213.20 zlotys).
PRICE COMPARISON OF 1 gram of ascorbic acid and 40 grams needed to cure a cold:
ABC | 1,43 zł< | 57,20 zł |
Cebion | 5,33 zł< | 213,20 zł |
Calivita Liquid C | 5,68 złł< | 227,20 zł |
DuoLife | 9,70 zł< | 388 zł |
Finclub (tablets) | 9,04 zł< | 361,60 zł |
Visanto (powder) | 0,76 zł< | 30,40 zł |
Rutinoscorbin (tablets) | 0,93 zł | 37,20 zł |
So is ABC expensive? It turns out that it is super cheap and is a premium product.
Because apart from the amount of ascorbic acid, which I focused on, it is packed with pure nature that supports this acid, in addition it is made by hand, in small batches, without fillers and is not preserved to death. It is not preserved at all – it is pure RAW FOOD, and on top of that, a SUPER FOOD 🙂
Yes, ABC is demanding, because it cannot sit on the shelf for 2 years, it requires refrigeration and dark environment, and depending on the batch of honey and fruit and the season, it can slightly change its consistency and sweetness. However, these natural properties are its greatest strength, and its bioavailability beats any other supplement on the market.
It also outclasses each of them (and all of them together) with the bioactivity of natural fillers (honey and fruit) and the fact that it is unpasteurized, unpreserved, unheated, i.e. 100% bioactive and raw. There are no better transporters for vitamin C than its natural cofactors. And which factory can make better ones than plants and bees? As far as I know – none.
So if you are looking for a perfectly bioavailable vitamin C in a high dose for the prevention and/or cure of infections, which can be safely given to a child, for which grandma will thank you and to which you will willingly return, then there is no better choice than ABC. If only there had been such a product on the market when I needed it, I wouldn’t have had to invent it. But it had not existed. And as far as I know – it still does not exist.
So if you are looking for the best vitamin C in the world, you found it 🙂
